Eric Richards Technologies.
While I have almost a quarter century experience and the capability and knowlege to design and service a multi location system and also supply products for IT professionals; My passion and main focus is products and services for peace of mind for the home and small business and supporting their need to build and secure their networks. On my site; You will also find non-IT products that bring pleasure and variety to our lives. The first priority for building a network is security. Start at the bottom of the chain, from the user's machines and continuing upwards from the workstations or computers with solid, proven no-nonsense anti-virus strategy as a minimum. With the popularity of wireless networks, a source of network contamination is often the addition of an infected or unprotected computer, such as a laptop. I'll show you how to avoid the collapse of your network from improperly attaching additional units. Whether a business or home network; Your iron clad policy should forbid new harware additions unless thoroughly scrutinized, approved and the proper installation of standardized, proven protection. About Me: As a child growing up in the 80's, The geek infection entered my blood stream from watching Star Trek episodes on my mother's black-and-white TV. My father bought one of the first personal computers in '82; Unfortunately it frequently [accidently] malfunctioned. Completely by accident and certainly not on purpose (wink, wink) and in order to learn from the repairmen who came to fix the problems I caused (much to my father's chagrin, and later, to mine). Smarting from the pain of dad's application of his wisdom to my seat of learning and frequent subsequent "unique motivational strategies". The light bulb came on and I decided it would be easier (and much less painful) to formally study computers by reading about them. Most of my teen years were spent at bookstores and libraries, and working at the neighborhood Radio Shack. I learned enough about computers to become one of the youngest independent technicians for Tandy. Home users would buy their Digital computers from Radio shack and along with their warranty, would receive my phone number for support. I would happily travel around the city, fixing computers, and bringing the one's that I couldn't fix on site back to the store, to be worked on overnight or sent out to Tandy for repair. In a few years, I had branched out on my own. Word of my skills and knowledge quickly spread and soon became the go-to consultant kid for small business in the New York metropolitan area. This client mix exposed me to new equipment and allowed me to learn different techniques and hone my skills in computer troubleshooting, and network design. If you have concerns about your network whether security, expansion, design or maintainance; I'm always glad to answer your questions. I am available for a quick telephone call, on a per-diem basis, as a B to B consultant or on a maintenance contract. Now it's time to branch out again. Ask me how to harness the exciting VOIP telephone systems, slash your telephone costs and keep your money where it belongs ... In your pocket. My site contains techniques, tools and strategies I have selected and simplified them for the home user who wants to fix their own computer problems without all of the jargon, and without the expense of calling in a technician. I will help you find solutions for home networking, computer troubleshooting, and general maintenance. With the complexities of modern information systems, and the speed at which old equipment becomes obsolete, and new technology is released, it's important to have a place to find answers I'll help you ask the right questions, find the answers you need and let you sleep at night.. My only product is: Your peace of mind.
